Stephen Forrest
On leaving school, Stephen Forrest began his career at L&M as an Assistant Surveyor. Having started his surveying education with the HNC course, Stephen is now working towards his Postgraduate Diploma at Glasgow University. Stephen says: “I left school at 17 with a respectable secondary education behind me. Now, in what seems like a few short years, I am studying at Postgraduate level, while working on some of the most challenging surveying projects in the UK.”

Surveyors Barry Irving and Graham Brown both joined L&M as Assistant Surveyors. On completion of the HNC course, they both progressed to the BSc in London. Barry, 24, says: “Working at L&M has really set me up for career in surveying. In just 7 years I’ve gained invaluable work experience with one of the country’s leading land specialists, successfully completed two education courses, been paid full-time while studying and had a taster of life in London, with my accommodation provided.” Barry and Graham have been in charge of several projects including the recently completed Auchincruive Estate (see
Elliott Duffy joined L&M as a school leaver in 2007 as an Assistant Surveyor. He is currently half way through his HNC at Glasgow Met. Elliott says: “The opportunities given by L&M to work and study at the same time are a real bonus to anyone hoping to develop a career in surveying. I’m planning on progressing right through all the levels to become a fully qualified surveyor, educated to Postgraduate level.”
